Jeremy Ross Cook Memorial OL

Written in Memory of “My Buddy”

by Eric & Wanda Putty

MY Buddy

As I sit here the stillness surrounds me,

The silence, it beats like a drum,

In the distance, MY Buddy sits waiting,

For the first shimmering light of dawn.

Dressed in our very best “camo”,

Concealed from our head to our toe.

Braving old Mother Nature,

For a glimpse of a buck or a doe.

The sport is for the brave and the hearty,

MY Buddy, we see eye-to-eye

The leaves and the twigs just below us,

Up above only God’s clear blue sky.

At times like this I’m thankful,

For all of these things that I see,

But most of all I’m thankful,

For the friend that you’ve been to me!

Our hunting days are not over,

The destiny pulled us apart.

Friendship, you see is forever,

It dwells down deep in the heart.

As the dawn breaks early next morning,

And I’m sitting all snug in my tree

Grieve not for me and MY Buddy,

For MY Buddy, is right here with me.
